一個(gè)世紀(jì)前，胡適發(fā)出振聾發(fā)聵之聲：“一國之派遣留學(xué)，當(dāng)以輸入新思想為己國造新文明為目的?！痹谀莻€(gè)群星璀璨的時(shí)代，誕生了無數(shù)如留英的錢鍾書、楊絳，留美的梁思成、林徽因，留日的魯迅，留德的林語堂等學(xué)貫中西、震爍古今的文化大師。百年前風(fēng)云激變的世界局勢(shì)，也讓中外有識(shí)之士都堅(jiān)定地相信，唯有教育，才是改變一個(gè)國家、民族命運(yùn)的大計(jì)。在這樣的歷史背景下，1902年，金松岑先生帶著維新救亡的使命和信念，創(chuàng)辦了同川學(xué)堂。幾乎與此同時(shí)，在進(jìn)化論奠基人達(dá)爾文的故鄉(xiāng)，英國阿德科特學(xué)校的創(chuàng)始人Amy Gough)女士毅然棄商從教，將家族產(chǎn)業(yè)全部投入了現(xiàn)代化教育的建設(shè)與發(fā)展。

歷史走到2020年，英國阿德科特學(xué)校帶著Amy Gough女士的教育理想，跨越了時(shí)空，在金松岑先生故居落地生根。兩個(gè)延綿了千年的文明，兩所傳承了一個(gè)世紀(jì)的名校在蘇州這片人杰地靈的富土融匯，誕生了蘇州阿德科特學(xué)校。蘇州阿德科特學(xué)校的使命，是培養(yǎng)具有傳承、創(chuàng)新、獨(dú)立、優(yōu)秀品質(zhì)的學(xué)術(shù)卓越、人格自由、精神富足、行走世界的中國人。作為這所學(xué)校的創(chuàng)校校長，我希望在這所學(xué)校中的學(xué)子們，能舒展天性，開發(fā)潛能，實(shí)現(xiàn)個(gè)體的全面發(fā)展。我也希望，從這所學(xué)校走向世界的學(xué)子們，秉承世紀(jì)阿德科特的品質(zhì)，延續(xù)百年同川公學(xué)的文脈，成為有文化教養(yǎng)、社會(huì)擔(dān)當(dāng)和自由靈魂的世界公民。

I am an enthusiastic school leader with over 30 years of experience at all levels of education, with an emphasis on History. I believe in working with students in understanding ways while challenging their often self-imposed limitations. I focus on students and staff achieving their best no matter their starting point.

Adcote's approach to education resonates strongly with my own beliefs and practice at all levels of education for over 30 years. The qualities at the heart of Adcote (confidence, leadership, engagement, achievement and resilience) are vital to our students as they become citizens of China and the world.
