一個世紀前，胡適發出振聾發聵之聲：“一國之派遣留學，當以輸入新思想為己國造新文明為目的。”在那個群星璀璨的時代，誕生了無數如留英的錢鍾書、楊絳，留美的梁思成、林徽因，留日的魯迅，留德的林語堂等學貫中西、震爍古今的文化大師。百年前風云激變的世界局勢，也讓中外有識之士都堅定地相信，唯有教育，才是改變一個國家、民族命運的大計。在這樣的歷史背景下，1902年，金松岑先生帶著維新救亡的使命和信念，創辦了同川學堂。幾乎與此同時，在進化論奠基人達爾文的故鄉，英國阿德科特學校的創始人Amy Gough)女士毅然棄商從教，將家族產業全部投入了現代化教育的建設與發展。

歷史走到2020年，英國阿德科特學校帶著Amy Gough女士的教育理想，跨越了時空，在金松岑先生故居落地生根。兩個延綿了千年的文明，兩所傳承了一個世紀的名校在蘇州這片人杰地靈的富土融匯，誕生了蘇州阿德科特學校。蘇州阿德科特學校的使命，是培養具有傳承、創新、獨立、優秀品質的學術卓越、人格自由、精神富足、行走世界的中國人。作為這所學校的創校校長，我希望在這所學校中的學子們，能舒展天性，開發潛能，實現個體的全面發展。我也希望，從這所學校走向世界的學子們，秉承世紀阿德科特的品質，延續百年同川公學的文脈，成為有文化教養、社會擔當和自由靈魂的世界公民。

I am an enthusiastic school leader with over 30 years of experience at all levels of education, with an emphasis on History. I believe in working with students in understanding ways while challenging their often self-imposed limitations. I focus on students and staff achieving their best no matter their starting point.

Adcote's approach to education resonates strongly with my own beliefs and practice at all levels of education for over 30 years.
